This year you can use Soundcloud submit Music Will (formerly known as Little Kids Rock) student originals to the Songwriting Exhibition 2019.
We think Soundcloud is a great way to submit songs and keep your own archive of creative student work. Here’s what you’ll need to know to get started:
Before you get started: What you should know about Soundcloud accessibility – Soundcloud is accessible in most school districts but blocked in a few. You can record in your classroom and upload to Soundcloud from home (or any other network that doesn’t block sites like Soundcloud).
- Create a Soundcloud account – Yes, it’s another account to manage . . . but there are benefits! Go to https://soundcloud.com/. Soundcloud is a really easy way to upload and share songs. There are also social networking features. You can follow people, like songs, etc. If you don’t want to manage another username and password, you can login with Facebook.
- Upload your song – You can record and upload from your computer. You will need to make the track public so that we can listen! Make Sure to Update Song Details When you’re uploading your song, you can add a song title, an image, and a description. For the song title, please use the format “Song Title” by Student First Name(s), Teacher Last Name (for example: “My Awesome Song” by John, Smith). For the image, be creative. Snap a photo of your students or select something that represents your song. The description is optional but if you want to provide more info, you can include the song lyrics or info about your songwriting process.
- Get the Song Link – After uploading your song, login to Soundcloud from a computer, go to your track, click the share button and then copy the link (at the bottom under the social media share buttons). You will paste this link into your submission form.
